50x50cm oil on canvas stretched on woodenframe.
This painting was inspired by a stroll through a rose garden in a park in Freiburg. I painted it entirely from memory, not limiting myself to a photo reference, which allowed me to manage the composition in a unique way. I needed to include all elements that contributed to the mood: the sky, the wildflowers beside the roses, and the spiral composition that leads the viewer's eye upward. It starts with a few large leaves in the foreground, moves to the first rose on the left, ascends from one flower to another in a spiral, and gently slides to the last hidden rose on the right side, then returns through the leaves and wildflowers to the foreground. The first layers of this work were painted in 2018, after which I set it aside and nearly forgot about it. However, in 2024, I revisited it, adding fresh new oil colors, and thus completed the painting.
